Adama Sanogo is a college basketball player who plays the position of Power forward/Center for the UConn Huskies team in the Big East Conference. Adama Sanogo was born on 12th February 2002 in Bamako, Mali, which makes him 21 years old as of 2023. Adama began his basketball career during his high school days. He won a gold medal representing Mali at the 2017 “FIBA Under-16 African Championship” in Mauritius. At that time, he averaged 10.5 points and eight rebounds per game. He has made a career record of having six points and seven rebounds per game at the 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup.
He was at The Patrick School (Hillside, N.J.) under Coach Chris Chavannes. During the season, he averaged 13.3 points and 10.5 rebounds in 14 games. He got the opportunity to play for the New York Rens, so he trained under Coach Andy Borman. He gained popularity as a four-star recruit when he competed for the New York Rens on the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) circuit. On 5th May 2023, Adama committed to playing college basketball for the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team.
UConn Huskies
He played as a freshman in all 23 games, and 20 games started. Adama averaged 7.3 points, 55% (FG%), and 4.8 rebounds in 17 minutes per game. He earned Big East All-Freshman Team honors. He played as a Sophomore in all 29 games, and 28 games started.
Adama scored an average of 14.8 points, 50% (FG%), and 8.8 rebounds in 29.2 minutes per game. He was named First Team All-Big East 2022 honors. With his groundbreaking performance throughout the 2022-2023 NCAA Tournament, Adama helped Huskies reach the national championship.
They played the grand final against Brian Dutcher-led San Diego Aztecs for the showdown of March Madness. His teammates including LaMont Butler, Jordan Hawkins, Alex Karaban, and Tristen Newton showed implacable temperament and clinched the national title of NCAA 2023.
