Alex Karaban started playing basketball in high school. He was an outstanding player. His determination and skills led him to become one of the best players in his school. He was named Gatorade New Hampshire Player of the Year for 2020-21. His average score was 25.8 points, 2.9 assists, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks.
When he was in New Hampton he led the basketball team to the New England Prep School Athletic Council Class AAA tournament under coach Andrew Gale. He was named MVP of the championship game. Alex has also played under coach Todd Quarles. He has played for Expressions Elite on the AAU circuit.
Due to his impressive performance, he was named under Consensus’s top 50 recruit. After graduating from IMG Alex joined UConn for the second semester of 2021-22. He enrolled as a redshirt and quickly became an important part of the team. Alex played several games in the second semester with the team.
In the 2022-23 season, he began as a redshirt freshman. Alex still has four seasons to play for the Huskies. He is an amazing outside shooter and led his team to win Sweet 16 over nationally ranked Arkansas and Elite Eight against Gonzaga.
He plans to play professional basketball with the NBA. With the combined team efforts of Adama Sanogo, Tristen Newton, Jordan Hawkins, and Alex Karaban, the Huskies will try to win the national championship tonight against SDSU.
