Buddy Hield is a young Bahamian professional basketball player who plays for the team named Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association. He has won many trophies for his teams like the John R. Wooden Awards, Naismith Awards, Sporting News Player of the Year, and Oscar Robertson Trophy.

Early Life

Buddy Hield was born on December 17, 1992, as Chavano Rainier Hield in the Freeport at West Grand Bahama district in the Bahamas. Buddy is the son of Vincent Hield and Jackie Swann. His parents divorced when he was young and went to live with his grandmother along with his six siblings. While Buddy was young, he got his high school education from the “Sunrise Christian Academy” in Bel’ Aire, Kansas, and graduated from his college in the year 2016 in Oklahoma

Buddy Hield Career

On June 23, 2016, Hield was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2016 NBA draft. Buddy signed a contract with the Pelicans on July 22, 2016. On December 15, he won the match against Indiana Pacers, and on January 3, 2017, he was named as Rookie of the Month for December. He then started playing for the Sacramento Kings in 2017 where on April 11, 2017, he set a new career-high score and won against Phoenix Suns. He continued his career by playing for his team. On December 23, 2020, Hield put up 22 points, four rebounds, and three assists, alongside a game-winning in a 124- 122 overtime win against the “Denver Nuggets.”

For his National career, Buddy traveled to the city of Tepic in Nayarit, Mexico from August 1 to August 7, 2014, to represent the Bahamas National Team in the 2014 Centrobasket, which is a FIBA Americas championship for Central American and Caribbean subzone. Hield’s coach in the tournament was Larry Eustachy. He averaged a tournament-leading 19.8 points per game. Buddy has played many games in his career but he has not mentioned the next game which he will play or the next tournament in which he will participate. But it is confirmed that he will play for the same team in the next match too. The last game he played was on February 28, 2021, where his team lost the game.

Controversies

The recent controversies in which Buddy was involved is that when he played his last match on 28th February 2021 which was also his 350th match in which he broke the world record of making the fastest 1000th three-point shot breaking the record of Steph Curry who made his fastest 1000th in 369 games.
