Paolo Banchero was born on November 12, 2002, in Seattle, Washington. He was born to Rhonda Smith and Mario Banchero. According to the sources, he has a younger brother and a younger sister. Paolo started playing basketball at the age of 4. His family has an athletic background. His mother Rhonda, played College basketball and played professionally in the American Basketball league. She later became a basketball coach at Holy Academy in Seattle. His father, Mario played College football for Washington, serving as the tight end. He attended O’Dea High school in Seattle and is currently attending Duke University. He started playing at an early age, but never let his studies suffer, he had clear priorities, and his favorite subject in school was English.

Banchero started his career early by joining the Rotary Boys and Girls Club of Seattle. Attending O’Dea High school, he played basketball and football. He served as the backup quarterback on the state championship team on the football field. In his freshman year, his average was 14.1 points and 10.2 rebounds. And in his sophomore year, it was 18.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He led O’Dea to the Class 3A State Championship. He was also named the most valuable player. As a junior, he scored 22.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game. Banchero also received the Washington Gatorade Players of the Year and MaxPreps National Junior of the Year honors. He was coached by Daryll Hennings. According to him, Paolo is the most humble player on the team.
Banchero was a consensus five-star recruit and also one of the top-rated players in the 2021 class. He received offers from the top NCAA Division I programs, including Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky. They were even willing to offer him a scholarship. Despite all the predictions, Banchero committed to Duke on August 20, 2020. Banchero also serves as a quarterback and free safety on the football field. He led FBU Seattle to third place at FBUNC in 2014. And later in 2015, to second place. He also scored three touchdowns and showed his passing ability in the 2017 FBU 8th grade All-American game. As per his reputation, he lead his team to win in the season opener against Kentucky University on 10th November 2021.
