And in his sophomore year, it was 18.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He led O’Dea to the Class 3A State Championship. He was also named the most valuable player. As a junior, he scored 22.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game.
Banchero also received the Washington Gatorade Players of the Year and MaxPreps National Junior of the Year honors. He was coached by Daryll Hennings. According to him, Paolo is the most humble player on the team. Banchero was a consensus five-star recruit and also one of the top-rated players in the 2021 class. He received offers from the top NCAA Division I programs, including Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky. They were even willing to offer him a scholarship.
Despite all the predictions, Banchero committed to Duke on August 20, 2020. Banchero also serves as a quarterback and free safety on the football field. He led FBU Seattle to third place at FBUNC in 2014. And later in 2015, to second place. He also scored three touchdowns and showed his passing ability in the 2017 FBU 8th grade All-American game.
