Kamaia Fairburn was born on 12th November 2003 in west Yorkshire, England. She is of English descent but was raised in Toronto Canada where she spend most of her childhood and early life. Her parents Christian Fairburn and Michelle Fairburn moved to Canada while she was young and spend most of their life in the city of Toronto. Kamaia is also known to have a younger sister named Amoi Fairburn and a brother named Kai. She is known to have started her acting career at a young age and thus to focus on her studies and career alongside, she was homeschooled. She attended Wexford School of arts in her initial schooling years and she is currently a high school graduate.

Kamaia started her career as a child actress when she was merely 9 years of age. She first appeared in the television biopic Aaliyah; the princess of R&B in 2014. She was cast in the lead role in her debut film. Later, in the year 2016, she gave an appearance in the movie Supergirl. Her role however small, gained her a lot of recognition. After that, she starred in the show Odd Squad as Agent Olina in 2018 and the same year, got her breakthrough role as Diamond Brooks in the Nickelodeon comedy show Star falls. She was also cast in one of the leading roles in Holly Hobbie, a Hulu original show.
