Northeastern

Walker shared the backcourt with Jordan Roland during his freshman season at Northeastern. On January 2, 2020, he achieved a season-high 32 points in a 77–68 victory over Elon. As a freshman, he earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie Team honors by averaging 10.4 points, 3.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, and was named CAA Rookie of the Week four times. On February 13, 2021, he led his team to a 76–67 win over Towson, scoring a sophomore season-high 36 points. During his sophomore year, he received recognition as First Team All-CAA and Defensive Player of the Year by averaging 18.8 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. Walker topped the CAA in scoring during conference play and steals. After his sophomore season, he chose to transfer to Michigan State over Maryland, Kansas, Texas, Miami (Florida), and Vanderbilt.

Michigan State

During his junior season, A.J. Hoggard shared point guard duties with Walker, but it was noted that Walker was the superior shooter. On December 8, 2021, Walker contributed 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists in a 76–67 victory against Minnesota. Then, on February 26, 2022, he made a crucial three-pointer with 1.4 seconds left, giving Michigan State a 68-65 lead against Purdue. They were able to secure the win, thanks to his shot. Walker’s season averages included 8.2 points and 4.3 assists per game, with an impressive 47.3 percent three-point shooting rate.
