Eric Musselman Biography

Eric Musselman is an America-based college basketball coach and he is the driving force behind the success of Arkansas Razorbacks in the NCAA Tournament 2023. He is currently holding the position of head men’s basketball coach at the University of Arkansas. 

Early Life

Eric Musselman (born November 19, 1964) was brought up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and San Diego, California, and finally relocated to suburban Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School in Brecksville, which is around 15 miles south of Cleveland. Then, he had his commitments to play basketball games for the same high school. He went on to receive his graduate degree from the University of San Diego, where he played basketball for Jim Brovelli and Hank Egan (both former basketball coaches). Eric shared his childhood with a sister, Nicole, who is a professional fashion designer in Dallas, Texas. He was brought up by his loving and caring parents named Bill Musselman (1940 to 2000) and Kris Musselman- the proud mother of proud child Eric, who achieved a lot at only 24.

Coaching 

Eric Musselman was drafted by CBA, the Albany Patroons in 1987, in the fifth round. Being there, he had a career-high record of making 270–122 scores and eventually had the marking of the second-highest winning percentage in league history behind George Karl, who was the coach of the CBA for the continuous five seasons.

Officially, Eric began his career in 1988 as the general manager of the Rapid City Thrillers, where his father also coached for consecutive three years. It was somewhere around 1989 to 1990 when Eric was only 24 years old and he became the Thrillers’ head coach.

From 1990 to 1997, Eric called up to 24 players in the NBA, which is a further higher number in the league during that span. He is also holding the honor of being named the only coach in five leagues of All-Star Games (1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997). Despite this, he was the only coach who won 100 games by the age of 28 in the professional history of coaches. He became the youngest personality to be named as the coach for CBA and at that time he was only 23.

Despite this, he contributed his time to the designation of basketball analyst for ESPN.

Eric has two sons from his previous marriage and both are named Michael and Matthew. Michael is the Director of Recruiting for the University of Arkansas’ Men’s Basketball team, and Matthew is known to be attending the University of San Diego. The family is known to be living in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
