May was speaking with several of Oklahoma’s other pitchers when she learned she would start the first game of the Norman Super Regional. The Sooners’ bullpen has relied on the freshman more than any other reliever this season. May was an unblemished 24-0 in the circle during her junior year of high school. With a 0.32 earned run average, she struck out 246 hitters.
Additionally, she received the titles of 2018-2019 California Gatorade Softball Player of the Year and 2019 NorCal Softball Pitcher of the Year. Nicole joined the Sooners as one of the three rookies from the OC Batbusters in 2020. She was an integral part of the team that won back-to-back WCWS in 2021 as well as in 2022.
Nicole took charge of pitching in the 2023 season as the Sooners squad is looking rock solid and probably hunting their third title this year.
