Mika Brzezinski is a New York-born Polish personality who is an American journalist, talk show host, author, and political commentator. She is an active co-host of the morning broadcast show called Morning Joe. Previously, she was the news correspondent of CBS and was regarded as the “Ground Zero” reporter because she was the main reporting correspondent behind the live telecast of the September 11 attacks. Mika is a visiting fellow at the Harvard Institute of Politics, where she is often seen participating in topics like wage equality for women. Despite this, she is an author of three books, two of which are based on her career as a journalist and one is related to food addiction.
Early Life
Mika Brzezinski was born in New York City on 2nd May 1967 and belongs to a highly educated background where her father was of Polish descent. Her father’s name is Zbigniew Brzeziński, who was a foreign policy expert, and a former National Security Advisor, whereas her mother’s name is Emilie Anna Benešová, who was a Swiss-born sculptor of Czech descent. When Mika was born to her loving and caring parents, her father was working as a teacher at Columbia University, and the family later moved to McLean, Virginia in late 1976 after her father was nominated to the position of National Security Advisor by the newly elected President Jimmy Carter.
Mika was brought up along with her brother named Mark, who is an American diplomat and is recently working as the United States Ambassador to Poland. Mika’s second brother is working as a military expert and is named Ian Brzezinski. She went to the Madeira School and later went to Georgetown University, where she received her education for two years and later transferred to Williams College, from where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1989.

Mika began her professional life while working as a job assistant for the ABC show called World News This Morning in 1990. In 1991, she moved to Hartford, Connecticut, and joined ‘WTIC-TV’/‘WTIC-DT’ that is affiliated with Fox. She joined the channel as an assignment and feature editor, where she later got her promotion to general assignment reporter. Later in 1992, Mika left Fox and joined ‘CBS’-affiliated ‘WFSB-TV’/‘WFSB-DT’, where she received her promotion and became a weekday morning anchor in 1995. In 1997, she quit her job and became a correspondent for CBS, where she started hosting the program called ‘Up to the Minute’. During her short break from the CBS channel in 2001, Mika joined the rival network called MSNBC and started co-hosting the show called ‘HomePage’.
In September 2001, Mika had her comeback as a CBS News correspondent and she started reporting the collapse of South Tower live. She made her contribution to CBS as a correspondent, standby anchor, host of the breaking news, the shows like Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes. Mika went back to MSNBC on 26th January 2007 and started contributing to the show called Up to the Minute and hosting the weekly primetime newsbreaks. Occasionally, she started reporting for NBC Nightly News and hosted Weekend Today before she joined and started co-hosting along with Joe Scarborough as the co-host of Morning Joe.

Mika Brzezinski married for the first time in 1993 to a TV news reporter and now belongs to WABC-TV named James Patrick Hoffer. The pair met each other while being on the media outlet WTIC-TV. They have produced two daughters named Emilie and Carlie Hoffer. Because of the rumors of an affair between Mika and Joe, the two separated and finally got divorced in 2016.
