Katie Rae is one of those contestants being chosen and blocked by Ariana Grande after her performance over the stage of “The Voice”. She was born in 1986 and grew up in her hometown Milpitas and it was her father who taught Katie everything about music. Ever since childhood, the trio of father, daughter, and a son went to coffee shops and sing there, later she joined the school choir as well. Although, she was too shy in the first place and she couldn’t perform on her own.
Thus, she eventually stopped singing until 2015 and came back as a lead singer for a band. The 35 years old contestant sang the song “The Bones” by Maren Morris that made all the coaches turn their chairs for her. Katie Rae picked Ariana Grande over John Legend. Katie was the second contestant on the stage of “The Voice” who first got the chair of John Legend to turn around and later followed by Kelly Clarkson. Ariana Grande was the third one to turn her chair for the contestant and to buzz her big red buzzer. Blake Shelton didn’t turn around at all. After Katie ended up with her performance, Katie revealed that she was like a mother who used to stay at home. She added that she had to go through postpartum depression but Maren Morris’s music helped her to get out of the mental condition and this is why she chose her song to perform on the stage.

However, the newly launched feature “Thank You, Next” made her shut the fellow coach while pulling out him. While convincing Katie, Ariana acclaimed that she trusted her instincts and wanted her to execute her as an artist. She further added that she might be new here but she had a lot of experience and she would be going through hell and back. She would love to work with her and create a big sing with her while being her coach. Also, Katie picked Ariana to be her coach while making Ariana get her first team member.
