Karen Chen is an American figure skater. She has been coached by Tammy Gambill and choreographed by Drew Meekins and Pasquale Camerlengo. Her ISU of Combined total is 208.63, a short program is 74.4 and free skate is 134.99. She is recently seen competing at the 2022 Olympic Games, Beijing.
Early Life
Karen Chen was born on 16th August 1999 in Fremont, California, United States of America. The names of her parents are Hsiu-Hui Tseng and Chih- Hsiu Chen. She also has a sibling whose name is Jeffrey Chen. Her parents moved from Taiwan to the USA and found their home in Fremont, California in 1995. Karen was homeschooled via connections Academy and completed her high school education. For her higher studies, she went to Cornell University’s School of Human Ecology. Over there she is majoring in Human Biology, Health, and Society on the pre-med track.
Karen Chen Career
Chen started her career in the field of skating as she has been learning since 2005. In 2011 she won gold on the National intermediate level and in Novice 2012. Later in the 2013-14 seasons, she was seen at ISU Junior Grand Prix and also qualified for LPG Final. She also suffered from type three tibia fractures in her right ankle. At the 2014 World Junior Championship in Bulgaria, she was ranked ninth overall. In 2014-15 she won a bronze at Czech Skate and silver in the Croatia cup. She was also seen at the 2015 US Championship, World Figure Skating Championship, and World Junior Figure Skating Championship. In 2015-16 she tried 14 pairs of skate boots. She competed at the US International Classic, 2015 Skate America, Cup of China, Golden Spin of Zagreb, and other matches.
Rise to Fame
From 2016 to 2019 she achieved many titles by participating in various competitions. She was seen at 2016 NHK Trophy, 2016 Cup of China, 2017 Four Continents Champions, 2017 World Figure Skating Champions, 2019 Olympics, 2018 World Figure Skating Champions, 2017 Skate Canada International, 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, 2018 Stars on Ice Tour, 2018 CS Tallinn Trophy and other matches. Along with that she suffered from a stress fracture on her right foot and will be attending Cornell. From 2019 to 2022 she made a comeback and participated in many events.
She was seen at 2019 CS Autumn Classic International, 2019 NHK Trophy, 2020 US Championship, 2020 Four Continents Championship, 2020 World Championships, 2020 Skate America, 2021 World Championships, 2022 Winter Olympics, 2021 World Team Trophy, 2021 Skate Canada International, 2021 Internationaux de France, and other competitions. Recently in 2022 she is seen at the 2022 Olympic Games Beijing and is from Team USA. She won a silver medal for the team with a score of 131.52 points.
