Jade Carey Career
The year 2001 marked the beginning of Carey’s gymnastics training. During the Junior Olympics Nationals in 2016, Carey accomplished a tucked Kasamatsu full-on vault, which was later dubbed The Carey in the Junior Olympics code of points after she completed it. Carey entered the 2017 season as a Level 10 gymnast, which is a level below the elite level in the United States Gymnastics Association. In the middle of 2017, she was invited to The Ranch, where she met the requirements to become an elite member. On July 7, 2017, Carey made her professional debut in the American Classic, which was held at Karolyi Ranch. She only competed in three events: vault, floor exercise, and balancing beam, yet she took first place in each of those events.
Later in the month, she competed on vault, floor exercise, and balance beam for the second consecutive year. She won the vault, finished second on the floor, and fourth on the balance beam. In August, Carey competed in the US National Gymnastics Championships, where she placed second in the vault behind Ragan Smith and first in the floor exercise. Carey, along with Ragan Smith, Morgan Hurd, and Ashton Locklear, was chosen to represent the USA in the 2017 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Montreal. Carey has verbally committed to compete for the Oregon State Beavers in NCAA gymnastics in 2018-19.
Tokyo Olympics
Jade qualified for the ongoing Tokyo Olympics in trials and also showcased her skills during the all-around qualifications round. She successfully qualified for the vault final after hitting all four routines and placed second after Simone Biles. She finished with third place after Vanessa Ferrari and Simone Biles and placed ninth in the all-around. Despite this, she couldn’t make it to the all-around final because only two top scorers from the country can compete. Although, Simone withdraw her name from the final so Jade got a chance to represent her country in the all-around final. Jade won the gold medal at the floor exercise event held on 2nd August 2021 at Tokyo Olympics 2021.
