Arthel Neville was born on 20th October 1962 in the southeastern region of New Orleans of Louisiana. Her family holds a strong music background as she is the daughter of Art Neville, who is a Grammy Award winner, and Lorraine Neville. Art Neville is a singer, songwriter, keyboardist, solo artist, and founder of music groups such as The Hawketts, The Meters, and The Neville Brothers. In addition to Aron Neville, she also has a sibling Lan Neville with whom she used to spend most of her time. Arthel attended St. Mary’s Dominican High School of New Orleans and after completing high school she went to study pre-pharmacy at Xavier University but later switched to journalism at Southern Methodist University. She got transferred to the University of Texas at Austin and completed her bachelor’s in journalism while also working as a reporter.

Arthel started working while graduating from the University of Texas as a reporter. After graduation, her first job was as a reporter/anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans. In 1991 she became a part of a one-on-one celebrity interview show in which she took 200+ celebrity interviews in three years. She also covered live entertainment events for the network and filled in as a guest host on the show Talk Soup hosted by Greg Kinnear. In 1994 she became the first African-American woman to host a nationally syndicated entertainment newsmagazine program by launching and anchoring Extra for Warner Brothers studios. She served in Extra for three years and after that, she teamed up with Fred Roggin to host The Arthel & Fred Show.
A year later became a senior correspondent on the news magazine Fox Files, and an anchor at Fox News Channel, correspondent, host of Celebrity Spotlight, and weekly contributor on The O’Reilly Factor. In 2002, Arthel hosted her own signature show on the news network TalkBack Live with Arthel Neville. She became the lead anchor for the Fox 5 Morning News in 2008 and within a year, she made an impact on the San Diego community and got nominated for their 2009 Woman of the Year Award. In addition to being a journalist, she is also a famous actress known for films such as Days of Our Lives (1965), Fir in the Sky (1993), and Jimmy Hollywood (1994).
