Yemi Mobolade is a Nigerian-American politician and businessman. He is recently elected as the mayor of Colorado Springs, Colorado in the 2023 elections. Yemi is the first black mayor elected in Colorado State.
Early Life
Yemi was born on February 12, 1979, in Lagos, Nigeria, and was brought up along with his three siblings two younger sisters and one elder brother. He comes from a very traditional Nigerian family. His parents are of African descent. He has not shared the names of his parents online. His mother was a high -school and his father worked in finance with ExxonMobil. In 1996, his family immigrated to the USA and they started living in Colorado in 2010.
Yemi completed his higher education in the United States. Yemi attended a local High-school. He joined Bethel College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both Business Administration and Computer Information Systems. In 2006, he graduated with a degree in Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University. Later on, he received a Master of Arts degree in Intellectual Leadership at A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary in 2015.
Yemi Mobolade Career
Yemi earned a degree in leadership and business administration. After moving to Colorado Springs in 2010, he started three small businesses. He launched a church within the Christian and missionary alliance and became a Pastor and a church planter. Initially, he was a community leader and a public servant. He served as a local missionary. Yemi also co-founded two restaurants. He started earning a decent amount of money from the restaurants.
At first, he served as a ministry leader at First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs. He served for three years from 2015 to 2017. He was a former executive chairperson and co-founder COSILoveYou where he served from 2015 to 2018. In 2017 he became the vice president of business retention for the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. He served there till 2019. Then from 2019 to 2022, he served as small business development manager for Colorado Spring.
Yemi has also worked as a Consultant Business Coach at Niche Coaching and Consulting. Along with this, he is also the co-founder and co-owner of Good Neighbours Meeting House LLC. In November 2013, he co-founded The Wild Goose Meeting House. Yemi has a successful career as a businessman. He has a great role in the success of several businesses. After his success, he became a household name in Colorado Springs.
He tried his luck in politics. In 2022, Yemi announced his candidacy for mayor of Colorado Springs for the 2023 elections. Fortunately, Yemi won the election and was selected as the mayor on May 16, 2023. He defeated fellow candidate Wayne W Williams in the general. He received 57% of the votes. There were 12 other candidates in the election. He succeeded Mayor John Suthers. Yemi will be the 42nd mayor of Colorado Springs.

Personal Life
Yemi is married to Abbey Mobolade Gocchenaur. The two got married in November 2012. Abbey is a full-time nurse educator. She works at Pikes Peak State College. Previously she was an English teacher.
The couple have three kids together. They have a daughter and two sons. The elder son is Dawit Blessing Mobolade, who was adopted by the couple in 2017. The younger son is Zion and the daughter is Tumi Mobolade.
