Van Jefferson was born on 26th June 1996 in Jacksonville, Florida. Later, he was brought up in Brentwood, Tennessee. He went to Ravenwood High School and attained his education there only. Jefferson is strongly connected with his mother that made him commit to his role as a father for his own two children. In one of her interviews, his mother Marla Jefferson thanked Jefferson for being his favorite child and one of his most beloved one. Van got redshirted as a true freshman at Ole Miss. In 2016, he rushed for 543 yards, three touchdowns, and 49 catches. During his redshirt sophomore years, he rushed for 456 yards, one touchdown, and 42 receptions. Following the year 2016 in the season of 2017, Jefferson made an announcement that he will transfer from Ole Miss to NCAA while choosing to continue his collegiate career at Florida. Van Jefferson was immediately given the allotment to play for Florida after receiving a waiver from NCAA and SEC (Southeastern Conference).
In the first-ever season of his career in 2018; he made a reception of 35, rushed for 503 yards and six touchdown receptions. While playing as a senior, he rushed for 49 passes for 657 yards and six touchdowns. He stood against Virginia in the Orange Bowl of the year 2019 and made six passes for 129 yards in his final career of the game. He finished his collegiate career with 159 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 175 receptions in almost 45 games ever played. Later this year in 2020, Van was selected by Los Angeles Rams in the second round for the 2020 NFL Draft.
