Tyler Lee Hoechlin is an American actor known for playing the role of Derek Hale on Teen Wolf, Michael Sullivan Jr. in Road to Perdition, and Martin Brewer in 7th Heaven. He was also once a college-level baseball player but due to his injury focused on acting.
Tyler Lee Hoechlin was born on September 11, 1987, in the city of Corona, California, United States. He was born to his mother Lori and father Don Hoechlin and has two brothers named Tanner and Travis and an older sister named Carrie Hoechlin. His father is a doctor and his mother is a successful mountain bike race. Tyler started to play baseball from the age of seven and soon made it to his school team. He was so successful that at a point in time he wanted to make his career in baseball.
In 2006, Tyler completed his high schooling at Santiago High School and then got himself enrolled in Arizona State University after getting a scholarship. But after one year at Arizona, he transferred to the University of California, Irvine where he kept playing baseball and even wanted to make his career in the sport. Unfortunately, due to his hamstring injury, his ability to play and practice got deteriorate. Then he focused his into making his career as a professional actor.

From a young age, Tyler played baseball. He used to avoid auditions and decline roles as his main focus was playing the sport. It was due to the fact he pulled his hamstring, that he focused on acting, till then Tyler even refused the role of Emmett Cullen in Twilight films. But as a baby, he appeared in several commercials which always kept him at an edge while auditioning for other roles. When he was 13, Tyler made it to the auditions for Road to Perdition as Michael Sullivan Jr. for this role he won many awards. In 2003, he played the lead role of Martin Brewer in the television show 7th Heaven. The show was shot according to Hoechlin’s baseball practice timings but in 2011 decided to go full-time in acting. Then he starred as Derek Hale in the TV series Teen Wolf alongside, Tyler Posey and Dylan O’Brien.
Around the same time, he was named on the list of TV’s 100 Sexiest Men of 2011. Subsequently, Tyler was seen in films such as Solstice and Hall Pass. In 2017 Tyler appeared in a military film called Stratton. In 2016 Tyler was cast for a few appearances as Superman / Clark Kent in the series Supergirl. Tyler left the cast of Teen Wolf as one of the main roles as he wanted to focus more on his career in movies. Later he went on playing Boyce Fox in Fifty Shades Freed, Mark West in The Domestics, Joe Weider in comedy-drama Bigger, and in Then Came You as Frank Lewis all in the year 2018. After playing Superman in many DC series, in 2021 Tyler will be seen in Superman & Lois as a lead role.
