Tony Vitello is one of the most loved coaches at the University of Tennessee and a former baseball player. He has been the head coach at Tennessee since 2017 and with his knowledge and guidance, led the team to achieve great milestones at the national level in baseball.
Early Life
Tony was born on 9th October 1978 in St Louis Missouri, USA. There is not much information available about his parents and family but it is known that his father’s name is Greg who was the head coach at De Smet Jesuit High school. He is also known to have a three sibling sister one of whom is named Kara but there is not much available about his other sisters. He is currently 42 years old and believes in Christianity.
Tony has not shared much about his early education but it is believed that he completed his high school graduation from De Smet Jesuit High School in St Louis, Missouri. He also attended a Division II school Spring Hill College in Alabama for a year. He later joined the University of Missouri in the year 2000 and was also part of the college Baseball team till his graduation in 2002.

Tony started his career as a college baseball player in the year 2000 when he joined the baseball team of his University. He played at the Infield position till his graduation. As soon as he graduated, he decided to make a career as a coach and joined the University of Missouri as an Assistant Coach in 2003. he led the team to win Seven consecutive NCAA tournaments which made them the team of the decade. Despite being a young coach with less experience, he coached the team to do its best. He worked there as an assistant coach till 2010 and left to join TCU Horned Frogs as an Assistant for the next few years.
Fame
In 2014, he joined the University of Arkansas as Assistant coach and recruiting coordinator and worked there till 2017. In his very first season at Arkansas, he led the team to become the country’s top class and helped them improve their batting average and hitting. Later in 2016, the team achieved the best offense rank in the country. In 2017, he left the assistant coach position at Arkansas and joined the University of Tennessee as the Head Coach. He is presently working in the same position. During his 17-year career, he managed to get several of his students get picked in the overall drafts by MLB and also helped the teams win different leagues. Some of the notable athletes he coached are Aaron Crow, Andrew Benintendi, Kyle Gibson, etc.
In 2019, he coached the team through the NCAA tournament and the team ranked at 11th position with their strong game and also made new records such as the second-highest number of home runs. The following SEC 2020 season was canceled but the team won the inaugural round Classic at Round Rock in Texas which was the highlight of the season. Recently in 2021, he coached his team to become the SEC Eastern Division champions in the College World Series. He also led the team to win the Knoxville Super Regional in June 2021 and reach their fifth college world series.
