Storm Large

An American passionate singer, Storm Large is also a songwriter, actress, and author. She is best in all ways but is mainly known for being a contestant on ‘Rock Star: Supernova’, the CBS reality television show. Earlier she was a sole rock artist but recently she shifted her interest to the theatre and the cabaret world. She is amazingly a hit star and is looking forward to rocking the world. At present, Storm is all up for giving a hard time to all other competitors at NBC’s reality show ‘America’s Got Talent.

Early Life

Her real name is Susan Storm Large. She was born on 25th June 1969 and was raised in Southborough, Massachusetts, United States. Her hometown is San Francisco, California, United States. Presently she resides in Portland, Oregon. She is the daughter of Henry Large, her father whereas details about her mother are yet to be disclosed. Moreover, she hasn’t revealed her sibling’s details in the public domain. Her father was a history teacher and also the football team coach before he retired.

To flaunt and embrace her inbuild talent, Large went to St. Mark’s School, a prestigious private school from where celebs like Ben Bradlee, Prince Hashim of Jordan, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt III studied. She graduated in 1987 from there. To gain knowledge and add to her passion, she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. After shifting to Portland in 2002, she started self-doubting and was about to quit singing and enrolled in the Western Culinary Institute but somehow managed to continue her singing.

Storm Large Career

Storm’s heart was into music since the age of 5 and started singing and writing songs based on what she glances at in her everyday life. She got more involved in her passion and initiated and created a brand called ‘Flower SF’, where she rocked her performance alongside Michael Cavaseno and remained in the headlines for several days as ‘the duo Storm and Michael’. She went on to star at ‘Shaunna Hall’ of 4 Non-Blondes and P-Funk and served as a Rhythm Guitarist. In 2002, she took the lead and created her band ‘The Balls’ also known as the Storm and The Balls. The lively band performs astonishingly which includes, Lounge-core, mashup renditions of artists like ABBA, Black Sabbath, Cheap Trick, Billy Idol, Led Zeppelin, Motorhead, and Olivia Newton-John.

Further, she also emerged in San Francisco Bay Area along with her past bands like Storm Inc and Storm and Her Dirty Mouth. During live shows, she performed as a filled-in for Jen Folker on Vocals with Rob Wynia as a partner with Drumattica out of Portland. She was eliminated from the Rock Star: Supernova on 6th September 2006. In the same year, she made a guest appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show. She sang ‘The Star-Spangled Banner in her soothing voice in the 2nd season finale of ESPN reality television show ‘The Contender’. In 2008, she publishes her autobiography, which got rave reviews.

AGT & Other works

From November 10th to December 22nd, 2010, she was seen starring in Randy Newman’s‘Harps and Angels’. She made a cameo appearance in the feature film ‘Bucksville’. Large went on a music tour with the band as a temporary replacement from 4th July to December 16th, 2011 after Pink Martini vocalist China Forbes underwent surgery. In 2013, she joined the band for the album ‘Get Happy’ and was a co-lead singer on the follow-up world tour.

On 15th June 2021, she appeared on the ‘America’s Got Talent’ to sang a melodramatic interpretation of ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’ and prompted a standing ovation from the judges and slack-jawed reactions from the audience. Each judge gave her a ‘Big Yes’ to keep moving in the competition. She appeared yet again on the stage of AGT during the live performance in the presence of people watching in the quarterfinals. Storm showed her wide vocal range in the beautiful rendition of “Take on Me” by “A-Ha” and some of the viewers stated it was probably the performance of the night for them.
