Nathan Chen is yet another American sensation who is a professional figure skater. The 23-year-old young boy is a favorite of all-star events in the field of skating. Nathan Chen was born on 5th May 1999 and as of 2022, he is 23 years old. He was brought up in Salt Lake City, Utah along with his four older siblings named Colin, Alice, Janice, and Tony. Nathen belongs to a well-educated family where his father Zhidong Chen is a research scientist and his mother Hetty Wang is a medical translator. As far as his educational details are concerned, Chen went to West High School in Salt Lake City and thereafter became a student of Rim of the World High School in Lake Arrowhead, California.
Chen received his graduation from California Connections Academy. He enrolled himself for professional training in the Ballet West Academy. He began competing for gymnastics at the state and regional levels, which he pursued for at least seven years. Chen got himself enrolled at Yale University during the fall of 2018. Earlier Years of Hustling for Skating
Nathan began hustling for figure skating at the age of three. He got himself paired with one of his elder sisters’ white skates. He entered his first ever competition skating in 2003 at the age of 4. Nathan was ranked at 10th and 3rd place in the juvenile at Junior Nations of the season 2007 and 2008 respectively. At the Junior Nationals of 2009, he won the title of intermediate men’s silver medal. At the age of 10, Nathen became the youngest novice champion in the history of U.S figure skating. Championships in Spokane, Washington. He was so young at that time that he decided to remain at the novice level for the season of 2010-2011. Later, Chen made his first international appearance while competing for novice men’s events at the 2012 Gardena Spring Trophy in Selva Val Gardena, Italy.
Hustle for the Beijing Olympics
He began his Olympics season at the 2021 Skate America where he achieved the position of fourth place in the short program. He was placed second in the free skate while doubling on two of his six planned quads and later hustled for third place in the overall competition coming behind Vincent Zhou and Shoma Uno.
