Michaela Edenfield is a catcher for the FSU Seminoles who emerged as the biggest treasure for the team through the NCAA Softball Season 2023. Michaela Edenfield was born on March 7, 2002, and is Tami Powell’s daughter. She has been crowned Sneads High School’s 2019 Homecoming Queen. Michaela went to high school in Sneads, Florida, where she amassed a.440 batting average, 99 base knocks, 101 runs scored, 32 doubles, and 28 home runs.
She also excelled in volleyball, winning four consecutive 1A State Championships, and was named the Most Valuable Player of her high school team in 2017. She plans to use her Business degree to become a media marketing manager for a sports team or a sportswear firm.
Michaela Edenfield Career
Michaela played in all 61 games as a freshman in 2022, posting a.293 batting average (46-for-157) with four doubles and a league-leading 16 home runs. She scored 36 runs, drove in 53, and had the highest slugging percentage on the club (.624). Michaela finished with 16 home runs, which was only three short of the Florida State rookie record.
She hit seven home runs in her first 16 games and hit her first career home run against Loyola Chicago (2/12). Michaela homered twice against ranked opponents, first against No. 9 Texas (2/18) and then again against ranked opponent No. 25 UCF (2/20), driving in three runs.
In FSU’s extra-innings victory against No. 2 UCLA (2/20), she hit a solo home run, and in the sixth inning of FSU’s game against No. 4 Alabama (3/16), she knotted the game with a three-run home run off the left field foul pole.
Rise to Fame
Edenfield hit her first two-run home run on 3/23/17 against Troy, going 3-for-3 with five RBI, and her second on 4/1/18 against Virginia, going 2-for-2 with two walks and three RBI. In FSU’s 6-0 victory over No. 17 Clemson on 4/23, she hit her 16th home run of the year.
In 2023, she hit 10 home runs, including a two-run shot over center field at Notre Dame (4/30) and a game-tying three-run shot at Notre Dame (4/28). She had two doubles and six walks in a run-rule victory over Virginia Tech (4/22) and six walks and three home runs for five RBIs against fourth-ranked Clemson (4/6).
Michaela went 3-for-3 with two singles and a monstrous grand slam against Georgia Tech (4/1), driving in six runs, and the next day she hit a solo home run to start the scoring in the series opener against Duke (3/24). She hit a grand slam against Colgate on 3/4, her second of the season, and a three-run homer against third-ranked Oklahoma State on 3/10 to help extend a lead to four runs.
At the JoAnne Graf Classic, she got out to a strong start with five hits, two doubles, and a game-winning home run against Lipscomb in the second game (2/9) that was one of three hits that day and tied a career-high.
