Jennifer Cohen is an American personality and an athletic director. She has been staying in Washington for around 24 years. She is now the athletic director for the University of Southern California and previously was the athletic director for the University of Washington from 2016–2023.
Early Life
Jennifer Cohen was born and raised in Arcadia, California, United States. She moved to Tacoma, Washington, in second grade with her family. She is also known as Jennifer Smith. She attended San Diego State University and Pacific Lutheran University to complete her primary education.
Jennifer received her degree in physical education from San Diego State University in 1991. Then, she received her master’s in physical education from Pacific Lutheran University in 1994. Since she completed her education, she has been working as an athletic director.
Jennifer Cohen Career
Cohen was first hired as an interim director at the University of Washington on 1st February 2016. Then on 25th May 2016, she became the 17th athletic director to be hired at the University of Washington. At the university during hiring, she was one of just three female athletic directors and the only female AD in the Pac-12.
She returned to her university, where she studied master’s and worked as an athletics administrator. Additionally, she has worked at various other universities, including the University of Puget Sound, Texas Tech University, and the University of Washington, beginning in 1998. Then in 2023, she began working for USC.
Athletic Director For USC
She has been an athletic director at the University of Washington for around eight years. The university [USC] announced her as the 10th athletic director on Monday, 21st August 2023, making her the first female and 54-year-old personality to hold this position.
The former athletic director Mike Bohn stepped down because of the criticism over mismanagement and misconduct allegations. Since then, there has been no athletic director for around three months at USC. Cohen will be taking over the position that was unstable for many months.
