Jack Nunge also known as John Richard Nunge is an American college basketball player. Jack emerged as one of the bright prospects for the upcoming NBA Draft and all scouts from the big franchise will be keeping their eyes on him in March Madness. He plays as a forward for Xavier Musketeers of the Big East Conference and previously he played for Iowa Hawkeyes.
Early Life
Jack was born on February 20, 1999, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He went to Castle High school where he started playing basketball in junior year. Jack graduated from Iowa University in 2021 and then transferred to Xavier college. He comes from a sporting family. Everyone in his family has played one sport or other. His father’s name is Mark Nunge while his mother is Beth Nunge.
Mark was an emergency physician who passed away in 2020 due to medical conditions. His father has played basketball for the University of Rochester. She has also played softball and basketball for Central College. Jack’s sisters Jessica and Rebecca have played at the college level. His cousin has played at the national level.
Jack Nunge Stats/Career
Jack started playing basketball in his high school in Indiana. His average points were 19.3, 11.4 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game in his junior season. His game got better in his senior year and averaged 22.8 points with 3.5 blocks per game. After his outstanding performance in class 4A Seymour semi-state, he was named Evansville Courier and Press All-Metro Player of the year. Jack went to Iowa and committed there to play college basketball.
He rejected offers from Clemson, Nebraska, and Georgia among others. In his freshman year at Iowa, he averaged 5.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. To develop his skills Jack opted to redshirt in his next season. He transferred to Xavier for his junior year. In December 2021 he scored a career-high 31 points with 15 rebounds in an 83-63 win. He is presently playing for Xavier.
Controversy
The Xaviers lost a match against the Butler men’s basketball team. The end of the match was very much controversial. The match got tied within 10 seconds. Eric Hunter of Butler men’s team attempted a dunk but Jack apparently got the block still Xavier was called goaltending. People took over Twitter to show their disagreement with the decision. The dunk was ruled as Goaltending against Jack Nunge. The coach claimed that the team didn’t deserve to win.

Jack Nunge Wife
Jack is married to his college sweetheart Gabrielle Orr. She was a freshman on the Iowa volleyball team when she met Jack. Gabrielle is from Minnesota. The couple got married in 2022. They first met on their college campus and fell in love instantly in 2017. The couple dated for a couple of years before getting married. Jack regularly posts pictures of the couple online.
