Gary Chambers is currently running a 501c3 organization called BiggerThanMe. The organization focuses on furthering progressive causes. In 2021, he made his first run for public office. He entered the race of the special election to fill Rep. Cedric Richmond’s seat in Louisiana’s Second Congressional District. With extreme support from the family, fans, and little funding, he got around 20,000 votes in the primary, narrowly missing the election runoff.

Chambers was born on 5th August 1985 and brought up in North Baton Rouge. He has seen the middle-class community bleeding for the basic resources. Chambers believes that God has given the power to everyone to change things with his/her words, so he believes to follow that only. He has seen middle-class black people fighting for their things and getting involved in cases of devastation. Gary was raised in this environment and he says that he doesn’t necessarily need to depend on the speech writings. He speaks about the things that he believes to be real in society. It is his willpower that helps him to talk about things.

Currently, he is taking even the bigger challenge by running for the seat of Kennedy, an entrenched Republican. With $10 million cash in hand and the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, he is focusing on winning the race. And if he succeeds in this, he would be the first black personality to be elected for the statewide office in Louisiana. The first attempt by any black person was made by P.B.S Pinchback in 1873 who won the senate seat but was never offered the seat due to a contested election claim by white opponents. You can say that no black man has been elected till now after 1873. If Gary wins the elections, he would be the first black man to do so.

Gary has recently been in the news because of his campaign ad focused on weed marijuana. He came into an appearance on Tuesday,i.e, 18th January 2022. He has focused on injustice and non-violent marijuana arrests. Sitting on the leather chair in a field near New Orleans’ City Park, Gary talked about the disproportionate number of Black and brown people focusing on low-level, non-violent drug crimes. With this ad, he is making a splash in the industry that is of course running far more than the smoke.
Gary says that he is not afraid of controversies, rather he would like to talk about the situations that are necessary to stand out in the place.
