Fernando Gil is a well-known Spanish male actor and producer. He is best known as the son of an entrepreneur, and his full name is Fernando Gil Moreno. He has appeared in films such as Alex’s Strip (La cinta de Alex in 2019) and Empowered (Sin rodeos in 2018). Gil won the Gran Vía Award 2009 for best actor in a musical comedy. On December 23, 2021, he was seen at MARQUINA THEATER for BUNKERS – AN APOCALYPTIC COMEDY.

Early Life

Fernando Gil was born on 15th June 1975, in Madrid, Spain. His father was only 13 years old when he began working professionally. Later, his father and mother both worked hard to build a remarkably successful textile company in the capital’s centre. He got a passion for being part of cinema and theatre at age six. After completing school, he earned a diploma in Sociology (1992-1994) from Complutense University of Madrid.

Later, he joined a theatre group, where he met his mentor, Antonio Malonda. After some, Antonia Malonda (Mentor) urges him to give auditions for the RESAD, where he is one of 50 chosen from over 1700 applicants. Later, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Art (1994-1997) from RESAD (Royal Conservatory of Dramatic Art of Madrid).

Television

His career landed in the Television show “Hospital Central” (2002/04). At the same time, he was hired by the National Theater Company (Centro Dramático Nacional) for playing the featured role in the plays like “The Visit” by Dürrenmatt, “Story of a Stairway” by Antonio Buero Vallejo and many classic works. His acting abilities commenced being noticed when he incarnated the legendary character of “Don Juan Tenorio” by Zorrilla at the Festival of Alcala de Henares before crowds of 40,000 spectators per show.

Later, he was cast for the lead role in the comedy “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, traveling all over Spain and getting a hit fan following in 2005. In the following years, he played all kinds of characters in TV shows, including Cuéntame Cómo Pasó (2006), Muchachada Nui (2007/08), La Tira (2008/09), La que se Avecina (2010), Los Quién (2011), Felipe y Letizia (2011), and “El Rey” (2014). In the TV show “El Principe”, he plays a secret agent investigating a terrorist cell in Morocco.

In 2012, he was selected by the Fundación Siglo de Oro Company to incarnate Henry VIII in The Shakespeare Globe to Globe Festival in London. He was the first Spanish actor to play a main character in The Globe Theatre. During that time, he received great reviews and honored attention in leading newspapers such as LA Times and The Guardian, where they praised his truthfulness on stage.

He met a renowned Hollywood agent who manages Fernando Gil’s career in the United States. He was awarded the “Biznaga de Plata” for Best Supporting Actor at the 2013 Malaga Film Festival for the film “Casting” by Jorge Naranjo.
