However, in April 2023, she left ESPN to join OutKick – a sports, news, and politics platform founded by Clay Travis.

Early Life

Arnolt was brought into the world in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her heritage is Italian American. During her childhood, Arnolt fostered an affection for sports and started participating in softball, volleyball, and gymnastics. Despite her aspirations of becoming a gymnast and participating in the Olympics, she had to retire from the sport owing to injuries.

Similarly, her dreams of playing volleyball at a college level were impeded due to her height. Arnolt attained a degree in broadcast journalism from American University in 2010, graduating summa cum laude. Prior to that, she attended North Central High School.

Charly Arnolt Career

Commencing her journalism career in 2010, she became a reporter at WSAZ-TV stationed in Huntington, West Virginia. Afterward, Arnolt transitioned to Indianapolis, where she was a freelance reporter for WXIN “Fox 59”. Subsequently, she relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, and joined WDAF-TV “Fox 4” in 2011.

She spent nearly two years there before returning to WXIN in 2014 as an anchor and sports reporter. In 2016, Arnolt attended a WWE SmackDown show in Indianapolis as a guest of her friend Tony Khan, who is a co-owner of All Elite Wrestling and also works for the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars.

During the event, she met Mark Carrano, the Senior Director of Talent Relations at WWE, who introduced her to Michael Cole. Cole is responsible for hiring TV broadcasters and ring announcers for the company and was interested in Arnolt’s talent. Unfortunately, there were no job openings at that time.

WWE

However, when Brandi Rhodes left WWE in May 2016, an opportunity arose for Arnolt to join the company. She began working as a ring announcer for WWE NXT under the name Charly Caruso and quickly moved up to the main roster.

She interviewed WWE superstars and hosted events on various platforms such as USA Network, WWE YouTube, WWE social media, and WWE Network. Arnolt also hosted pre-show panels and conducted backstage interviews on Monday Night RAW and WWE NXT until 2021, when she decided not to renew her contract with WWE.

ESPN

In September 2018, Charly became a part of ESPN and started giving updates on SportsCenter. She also hosted the SportsCenter show on Snapchat. A few months later, she was asked by someone in the talent department what she would prefer to do at the network.

As a result, in late December 2018, she made a favorable impression and received more opportunities to host First Take, eventually becoming the primary fill-in host. Charly was also a member of the First Take, Her Take podcast on ESPN along with Kimberley Martin and Elle Duncan.

The weekly show followed the same format as the television show and allowed them to discuss various topics related to their lives and culture. Apart from these roles, Charly frequently appeared on SportsNation on ESPN+ and other shows on the streaming service.

However, it was challenging for her to ensure that there were no scheduling conflicts between her WWE and ESPN commitments. Eventually, she transitioned fully from WWE to ESPN. On July 9, 2022, Arnolt made her first appearance as a fight interviewer at UFC on ESPN: dos Anjos vs. Fiziev.

Arnolt left ESPN in April 2023 and became a part of OutKick, a multimedia platform for sports, news, and politics founded by Clay Travis. She remarked that she could express herself freely at OutKick without the fear of cancel culture, stating, “Cancel culture doesn’t exist here.”
