Biz Markie Biography

Marcel Theo Hall, better known by his stage name Biz Markie, was an American rapper, singer, DJ, record producer, actor, comedian, and writer who was born in Manhattan. “Just a Friend” was his best-known song, which reached the Top 40 in many countries in 1989. Markie has been dubbed “the Clown Prince of Hip Hop” for his role as the “Clown Prince of Hip Hop.”

Early Life

Markie was born in Manhattan, in the Harlem neighborhood, to a family of four. Born on Long Island and graduated from Brentwood High School in 1982, Markie began his professional music career in New York City nightclubs before moving on to perform at colleges in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, where he garnered a regional reputation.
