Bella Ramsey is an English actress and singer from Nottingham. She is famous for portraying the role of young noblewoman Lyanna Mormont in the HBO fantasy television series Game of Thrones and Mildred Hubble in the 2017 CBBC television series The Worst Witch.
Early life
Bella Ramsey or also known as Isabella May Ramsey was born on September 25, 2003, in Nottingham, England. Her father Alex Ramsey is a businessman in England and the details of her mother or any siblings are not published by her. At the age of 4, while other kids were running and playing in yards, Bella started acting as a hobby. Then she got into the Loughborough branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, which she attended for seven years. Soon she was auditioning for roles and started off as a child actor.
At a young age, Bella went to the Loughborough branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, to study theatre. After getting trained for seven years, she completed her high school from online education at InterHigh school. Later she went to Central Junior Television Workshop and began auditioning for roles.
Bella Ramsey Career
In 2016, Bella starred in HBO’s drama television series Game of Thrones as Lyanna Mormont which is an adaption of A Song of Ice and Fire, series of novels by George R.R. Martin. She appeared on the show till 2019. In 2017 she played Mildred Hubble, the main character of Netflix’s series The Worst Witch, and the show lasted till 2020, and Bella was nominated for many awards, out of which she won Best Young Performer at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). In 2018, Ramsey was seen as the young version of Matilda in Requiem and did two films, Two for Joy as Miranda and Holmes & Watson as Flotsam. Then she was cast for the lead role of Hilda in the series Hilda, which follows her fearless adventures.
Following in 2019, Bella did 5 films Princess Emmy, Judy, Nancy, Zero, and On the Beaches, out of which the last three are short films. In 2020, Ramsey featured as a voice-over in Summer Camp Island and played Angelica on His Dark Materials. She was also seen on the war film Resistance alongside Jesse Eisenberg and Matthias Schweighöfer. Bella has been cast for the lead role of Birdy in the upcoming film, ‘Catherine, Called Birdy’ which is an adaptation of the same title by Karen Cushman. The film is in post-production. Recently in February 2021, it was also declared that Bella has been cast as the lead role in The Last of Us as Ellie opposite Pedro Pascal, both of them were seen in the Game of Thrones.
