Andrew Abbott is an American professional baseball pitcher who plays for the Cincinnati Reds. He made his historic Major League debut and earlier he played for the University of Virginia. He is known to have a flourishing high school career and also received the All-America Honours at the 2021 college world series.
Early Life
Andrew was born on 1st June 1999 in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA, and is currently 22 years old. He was born to his parents David and Jeanette Abbott and is known to have grown up with his sisters Brittany and Jessie. Sports activities always remained a matter of interest for him as he was athletic since childhood.
He even participated in swimming for a few years from 2011 to 2014. Andrew has not shared much about his early education but is known to have completed his high school graduation from Halifax County high school. He was also part of the school baseball team and had a great high school baseball career.
Andrew later went on to join the University of Virginia to continue college baseball and attain a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biology. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree from the same university in Psychology.

Andrew started his career in a high school as a swimmer and had a great record. He made it to the All-Piedmont District First Team selection four times and Was a two-time All-State as well as a four-time All-Piedmont District honoree in swimming. Meanwhile, he also played Baseball and also became captain of both his swimming as well as his Baseball team two times in a row.
He received an All-Piedmont Academic Team honoree in both baseball and swimming four times throughout his high school sports career. He later chose to move ahead with baseball and in 2017, he became the 5A state and North region player of the year.
Rise to Fame
He also received Piedmont District Player of the Year and Conference 16 Player of Year in 2016 and 2017. The same year, he became the Gatorade Virginia Player of Year and PBR Player of Year and was selected by New York Yankees in the 2017 MLB draft.
He chose to join the Virginia Cavaliers in 2018 and became the Newspaper Freshman All-American by Baseball America & Collegiate Baseball. He was also named the ACC All-Freshman Team for his amazing performance and record of six saves which is the most in the ACC.
The following year in 2019, he received the ACC All-academic team along with five other teammates and as a sophomore, struck 59 batters in 44 innings. He was selected to be a part of the USA Collegiate National Team as a pitcher and successfully led the team to make new records.
Recently in 2020, he became the D1 Baseball.com rank 7 in the top 50 pitchers of college baseball, and this year in 2021, he was named Third Team Pre-Season All-American pitcher by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and 2nd Team Pre-Season All-American by Perfect Game.
