Early Life
Akaash Singh was born on 4th May 1984 in Dallas, Texas, the USA in an Indian Hindu family. He grew up in Texas along with his brother Anshul and had always been interested in comedy. He has not shared much about his parents and family but is known to be really close with his family. Akaash is believed to have completed his high school graduation from a local school in his hometown Dallas, Texas, and is known to have attended Austin College for his further studies. He studied pre-med in college from 2002 to 2006.
Akaash Singh Career
Akaash initially wanted to pursue a career in medicine but after realizing his passion for comedy, he moved to Los Angeles to take forward his career. He had always been passionate about stand-ups and started performing in talent shows in school. After moving to Los Angeles, he started doing a lot of shows and his first open mic was at a legendary comedy store. He has been active in Stand up since 2007but his career took off after he starred in MTV guy code 2015 following which, he appeared in shows like Broker 2015, Carpool Rules 2015, Difficult People 2015, Red Oaks 2015, and Guy Code vs Girl Code 2016. He is also known for his work in MTV’s Wild ’N’ Out for the 6th and 7th seasons. In 2016, he appeared as Mookie on the show Brown Nation and as Kevin in the movie Hail Mary.
Other than this, he also appeared in an episode Fake News at Night in 2018 and briefly in the 2020 film Timing. His stand-up is mostly directed towards the representation of minority communities in the USA, Indians, social divide, and cultural differences. He talks about various important topics in a creative and entertaining way. Recently this year, he directed, wrote as well as produced his new short comedy sketch “Bring back Apu”, a special about the Simpson’s character- Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, released on YouTube channel. He has immediately caught a lot of attention after his appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast where he opened up about his experience and journey of becoming a stand-up comedian and about the representation of marginalized groups in US media.

Akaash is currently married to his wife Jasleen Singh whom he started dating in 2015. He met his wife through her sister who knew him for his podcast.
