Tre Morgan was a star on the summer circuit with the MLB Breakthrough Series Organization before he went to college, and he offers some versatility as a great first baseman and outfielder. He gets on base frequently and hits balls hard into the outfield corners. Because of an injury that necessitated surgery, he was sidelined for the entirety of his last year of high school sports.

In 2021, Morgan led LSU in batting average (.357), doubles (16), triples (4), home runs (6), RBI (42), runs (64), and stolen bases (15) with runners in scoring position (.379). He ranked in the top five in the SEC in batting average, hits, runs, triples, doubles, and stolen bases, and in the top ten in on-base percentage (.441).

He was also named to the SEC All-Defensive Team and earned Freshman all-America first team, all-SEC second team, and Freshman all-SEC honors. In the NCAA Eugene Regional, he had six hits, including a double, three RBI, and three runs scored, earning him the title of Freshman of the Week twice in a three-week span from late April to early May.

Rise to Fame

In a series victory over Texas A&M (May 20-22), he hit.375 (6-for-16) with one double, one RBI, and three runs scored. On May 10 he was named SEC Freshman of the Week after going 9-for-17 (.529) with a double, a triple, a home run, three RBI, six runs scored, two steals, and an on-base percentage of.556 across four games.

Morgan hit a career-high five-hit game against Tennessee on March 27. His three doubles and home run equaled the LSU single-game record for doubles. On March 21st, he gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead over Mississippi State with a clutch two-out, two-strike RBI double in the seventh inning.

In the ninth inning, he hit a walk-off sacrifice fly that scored the winning run as his team defeated Nicholls, 5-4. He ranked in the top 11 in the league with 82 hits, 10th in doubles, and 5th in hit-by-pitches.

His two-out, two-run single in the top of the ninth inning at Mississippi State helped LSU come back from a 2-1 hole and win, 5-2. His first home run of the season came on March 27 against Florida; he also knocked in three runs during LSU’s 11-2 victory and went 4-for-5 with three RBI in that game and against Southern.
