Tanner Hall is an American college baseball pitcher for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. In his final start against Ole Miss in the NCAA Oxford Regional, he went five innings without allowing a hit while striking out a season-high five batters to earn his first career save. He made the Dean’s List for the Spring 2021 semester, the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2020 semester, and the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He also received recognition on both lists.
Tanner Hall was born on March 18 to Paul and Danielle. Tanner Hall had his prep training at Zachary High School, where he started for the baseball and soccer teams for four years. He was selected for the 2020 LHSCA All-Star East baseball team and contributed to Zachary High School’s 8-4 record in baseball.
He assisted in guiding the Broncos to their first-ever postseason trip during the 2019–20 season of varsity soccer at Zachary High School. During his junior season, he was named the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association Region 8 Pitcher of the Year, as well as LSWA All-State Honourable Mention. He guided the baseball team from Zachary High School to the LHSAA Class 5A Quarterfinals in 2019. He is majoring in business administration right now.
Tanner played in 18 games, made one start, and finished with a 1-1 record with a 5.02 ERA. His lone start came in his debut, going 3 1/3 innings while allowing just one run on three walks and four strikeouts while taking the loss for South Alabama. With 1 1/3 bullpen innings against Louisiana-Lafayette and one unearned run on a hit, he recorded his lone win. In back-to-back starts against Alabama, where he threw 1 2/3 scoreless frames with a hit and two strikeouts, then added two shutout innings versus Louisiana Tech, where he struck out four, he did not allow a run.

He was chosen as the Ferris Trophy winner for the best collegiate baseball player in the state of Mississippi after compiling 146 strikeouts and just 14 walks over 109 innings of work. He qualified as a national semi-finalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award, becoming the seventh different Golden Eagle to win the Conference USA Pitcher of the Year Award.
Tanner was twice selected as the league’s Pitcher of the Week (on March 14 and April 25) and finished the year ranked third nationally in strikeouts, walks per nine innings, and strikeouts to walks ratio (No. 3/10.43). He became the first Golden Eagle to represent USA Baseball in an international baseball competition since Tony Phillips participated in the Pan American Games in Cuba in 1991.
