Chase Dollander is a college baseball pitcher for the Tennessee Volunteers. He once represented the Georgia Southern Eagles in college baseball. At this moment, he is probably one of the bright prospects for the upcoming MB draft 2023-2024. 

Early Life

Chase Dollander was born on October 26, 2001, in Evans, Georgia. He is the son of Sandra Wall and Brian Dollander. Trever Dollander is the stepson of David Wall, and he has two elder brothers, Hunter Dollander and Drew Wall, as well as one younger brother, Trever Dollander. Hunter Dollander, Dollander’s brother, pitched for Georgia Gwinnett College.

He attended Greenbrier High School in Evans and played baseball there. In 2018, his second year, he had a 2.36 ERA with a 5-3 record. He had a 6-1 record, a 0.79 ERA, and 71 strikeouts in 61+2/3 innings as a junior in 2019. He registered to play college baseball at Georgia Southern University after being passed over in the 2020 Major League Baseball draughts.

Chase Dollander Career

Chase Dollander made 11 starts as a freshman for Georgia Southern in 2021, going 4-3 with a 4.04 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 49 innings. He switched to the University of Tennessee after the season. Despite missing three weeks of the season due to a line drive injury, he started the 2021 season for them.

For the season, he was 10-0 with a 2.39 ERA, 108 strikeouts over 79 innings, and 16 wins (14 starts). The SEC Baseball Pitcher of the Year award was given to him. Dollander came into the 2023 season regarded as one of the top prospects for the impending MLB year. After pitching 6.2 innings to defeat LSU, striking out nine batters, and allowing just four hits and one earned run in his ninth victory of the year, he is chosen to the SEC All-Tournament Team.

In a crucial outing during an elimination game of the NCAA Knoxville Super Regional, he improved to 10-0, holding Notre Dame to two runs on five hits over 7.0 innings while recording five strikeouts and no walks. He pitched six no-hit innings in Tennessee’s opener against Mississippi State, leading the Vols to a 27-2 victory; the day ended after a long seven-run half-inning for Tennessee, who led 21-0 when he was relieved.

Rise to Fame

When he started again versus Georgia, he went 6.0 innings, gave up just one run on three hits, struck out six, and earned his seventh victory of the year. In 2023, he started the season at #9 South Carolina and had his best performance. In 5.1 innings, he struck out 13 hitters, did not allow a walk, and only allowed two runs on two hits. He defeated #15 Kentucky, fanning six Wildcats over five innings while allowing three runs to score.

Chase pitched a strong start in a loss at Georgia, striking out six hitters while allowing three runs on eight hits in six innings of work, and then pitched his first career complete game in a 17-1 run-rule victory over #2 Vanderbilt, striking out nine batters while allowing just one run on six hits in seven innings of work.

He defeated the Flyers in his 2023 home debut, striking out 12 batters in 5.2 innings against Dayton to secure his first win of the season. He also pitched 4.2 strong innings against Arizona on Opening Day at the MLB Desert Invitational, allowing just three hits while striking out seven batters, but was saddled with the loss, his first in a Tennessee uniform.
