Sydney Steele is a senior softball player at Stanford Cardinals Softball Team. She is presently majoring in bioengineering. She participated in club softball with the OC Bat Busters and Social Athletic, helping the latter team win the 2017 TC/USA National Championship and take third at the 2019 18U PGF Nationals competition.

A native of Poway, California, Sydney Steele is in her early twenties and she is the daughter of Marcy and John Steele and has one sister, Haley. During the 2012–2013 WCWS, her sister, who played softball for Arizona State, appeared twice.
She was team captain as a senior (2019) at Poway High School in Poway, California, where she also graduated. Sydney led her club to two Palomar League championships (2017–18). She finished high school with the most doubles (16) and runs scored (38) ever at her high school. Over the course of her four-year career, she hit.393 with 37 doubles, seven triples, 11 home runs, 114 runs scored, and 111 RBI.

Freshman
Sydney Steele played in 25 games as a freshman, starting 22 of them (21 at second base) and scoring 13 runs, had four doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBIs while batting.281. She had a.456 slugging percentage, a.414 average at the plate, drew a team-high 13 walks, and stole three bases in as many attempts.
Her second walk-off hit of the year was an RBI single against Nevada in game two of a doubleheader. She hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Stanford a 7-3 victory over Fresno State. She scored a run off a triple in the season opener against San Jose State on February 19. Assisted two runs against Santa Clara on February 21 and hit a double against California Baptist and BYU in back-to-back games. In the middle of the season, she had a six-game streak with an RBI, and she went 2-for-3 against Utah with a run, a double, and an RBI.
Junior
Sydney batted and started 60 games as a junior while always playing third base.221 (31 of 140), seven doubles, three home runs, and 21 RBI for the year. She had 125 assists, which placed her in the top 10 in the Pac-12.
She also completed five double plays and homered against Seattle while going 2-for-2 with two RBI. Sydney doubled to drive in a run and score a run against Fresno State in back-to-back games against Saint Mary’s and Mount St. Mary’s.
She hit a home run in the victory against Oregon and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and three runs scored in the victory over Minnesota. In the victory at Arizona, she went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in two runs.
