Rodrick Wayne Moore, Jr or known by his stage name Roddy Ricch, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. In 2017, Roddy released his first mixtape, Feed Tha Streets. His album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, scored several top hit singles and had three Grammy Award nominations.

Early life

Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr. was raised in Compton, California where he was born on October 22nd, 1998. He grew up in a religious family and at the age of seven, he was baptized. He studied in Carson Senior High School and Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnets in California. While he was in eighth grade he went through therapy for anger and antisocial behavior. From a very early age of eight, he started rapping, and later at the age of sixteen, he started to experiment with beats. It was in his bedroom where he first recorded. He also listened to Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Future, and Speaker Knockerz growing up.

Roddy was a quiet and introverted person throughout his school days. He was a gang member of Park Village Compton Crips. He started rapping at the age of six and by the age of sixteen, he was playing with beats and experimenting with his own music. His debut album, Feed Tha Streets, which included songs Chase Tha Bag, Hoodricch, and Fucc It Up, arrived in late 2017 and was succeeded by Feed Tha StreetsII which was released on 2nd November 2018. The album consisted of famous songs Die Young and Every Season. At the time of release, he was only nineteen-year-old.

His single Die Young which was released in July 2018 had over 80 million views on YouTube in the initial release. He wrote this song in memory of his childhood friend. His song Racks in the Middle with Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy, released in February 2019 even won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance and entered Billboard Hot 100. He has featured along with Future and Young Thug in the song Splash Warning from the album Championships (2018)

In December 2019 he released the album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial which became the longest-running number-one debut rap album in the US. The album featured Ricch’s biggest hits The Box. In January 2020 the song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Roddy Ricch has worked in one studio album, two mixtapes, and twenty-three singles including featured artists and eleven other singles.
