R.J. Davis went to Archbishop Stepinac High School, where he led Crusaders with a record of 27-5. While starting his sophomore year, he led his team to achieve a place in the CHSAA City Championship as well as New York State Federation Championship. Later he suffered an injury and had to part away from his games in his sophomore years. While in his junior years, he majored with 25.4 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Later, he was honored with The Journal News Westchester/Putnam Player of the Year. Later, he helped the team to reach the city championship game. He made an average of 26.5 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game while entering his senior years. Later, he was given the honor of McDonald’s All-American as well as Mr. New York Basketball.
Recruiting Career
R.J. Davis was considered to be a four-star recruit and was ranked 197th by 247Sports in the early months of the year 2019. Later, he rose to most recruiting services and was given the rank of 40 in the class of 2020 according to ESPN. He earned several offers from the side of Georgetown, Marquette, and Pittsburgh to play basketball. However, he chose to play college basketball for North Carolina in October 2019 and chose the Tar Heels over other offers.
College Career
RJ Davis earned an average of 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while entering his freshman years. He majored in the career-high ranking of 26 points with an overall score of 94-87 and a win against Brown. Later, he broke the record of his career-high ranking for the second time in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, scoring 30 points while upsetting the victory against Baylor and the over scores of 93-86.
