Payton Pritchard is an American personality who is a professional basketball player and professionally plays for the Boston Celtics of the NBA (National Basketball Association). Previously, he played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks and as a sophomore, he has achieved the honor of second-team all-conference in the Pac-12. Payton Pritchard was born on 28th January 1998 in Tualatin, Oregon. received his education from West Linn, Oregon, and later went to Oregon College from 2016 to 2020. While playing for West Linn High School, Payton won four consecutive state titles and achieved the honor of 2014 and 2015 Todd Pratt Player of the Year, Oregon Class 6A Player of the Year, and 2015 Gatorade Oregon Player of the Year. He made an average point of 22, and 5.8 assists per game as a junior during 2014-15 and made another average point of 23.6 along with 6.8 assists and 3.1 steals as a senior in 2015-16. Payton was named a four-star recruit by ESPN.com and was committed to playing for the University of Oregon Ducks in August 2015. Previously to this commitment, he was committed to playing for Oklahoma, where his father Terry played football.
Professional Career
Payton was drafted in the 26th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft where he committed to play four years for the Boston Celtics under a Rookie Contract worth $10.5 million. Payton had his debut with the team where he scored 17 points in a preseason game against the Philadelphia 76ers on 15th December 2020. On 4th January 2021, he scored a career-high 23 points along with an overall score of 126-114 and a win against the Toronto Raptors and scoring around 8 assists and 2 rebounds.
In the next game, while standing against the Miami Heat, Payton helped his team win with an overall score of 107-105 and a game-winning layup. On 12th January 2021, Payton scored the first start of his NBA career but had an underwhelming performance with only 2 points in 28 minutes with a loss in hand while standing against the Detroit Pistons. This performance came at the beginning of the stages which made Payton struggle with his impactful performance.
