Patty Tavatanakit is a professional golf player who won her first major championship at the 2021 ANA Inspiration in April. The 21-year-old from Bangkok, Thailand, surprised the field by winning by two strokes and dominating the competition from start to finish. She held off Lydia Ko’s late push. Patty was born on 11th October 1999 in Bangkok, Thailand Tavatanakit’s passion for golf started when she was 3 years old after Tavatanakit’s father gave her her first set of clubs. She began competing when she was 8 years old and won 60 out of 90 events she participated in as a junior.
She won the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship for girls in 2014, and after winning the Junior Golf Association Rolex Tournament of Champions and the Ping Invitational, she was awarded the 2015–16 Thailand Amateur Ladies Golf Association Player of the Year.

Tavatanakit attended UCLA for two years. In addition to being named the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) and Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Year, twice being named to the WGCA First Team All-American, and being named to the All-Pac-12 First Team, Tavatanakit won seven collegiate tournaments. She also received numerous honors.
Patty turned professional in 2019 when she joined the Symetra Tour. She took up the Gaelle Truet Rookie of the Year title for her remarkable start to professional golf, winning three times in just eight tournaments.
