Nilou Motamed is a beautiful, intelligent Iranian-born American magazine editor and television personality who, to add to her accomplishments in the food world, has recently become a recurring judge on the Food Network’s Iron Chef America. Motamed worked in Paris as a freelance magazine and radio editor. In 1992, she came to the United States and worked for three years in New York City as a journalist and food and travel writer; she was also editor-in-chief of a culinary television series on PBS. She then moved to Atlanta to take up her first full-time job at the Atlanta Magazine.

Nilou Motamed was born in Tehran but raised and spent her childhood days in Iran. Her family moved to Paris during the Islamic Revolution and then to New York when she was a teenager. She acquired dual degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from Binghamton University in upstate New York and the Sorbonne in Paris.
