Nick Gates Biography

Nick Gates is an American football player who is a skipper for the New York Giants team at NFL. He is known to have had a successful college football career at Nebraska and joined New York Giants in 2018. Nick was recently injured in the match against Washington Football Team due to which he underwent surgery on his left leg.

Early Life

Nick was born on 27th November 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma in a family of white ethnicity. His parents Ron gates and Carene Gates are both Christians and Nick also follows the same religion. He was always sporty and athletic and loved to play basketball and football. Nick completed his high school education in the year 2014 from Bishop Gorman High School and he later went on to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2019.

Nick Gates Career

Nick started his football career during his high school years where he was part of the school football team. He maintained excellent performance and record during his high school and by his senior year, he ended up as a four-star recruit. He was offered by the University of Nebraska to which he committed in 2014. In his collegiate football career, he was red-shirted in the freshman year, and in the 2015 season; he started off with playing at the Offensive line for the team. In his junior year, he was again red-shirted and could not play many games. In his senior year, he started preparing for the 2018 NFL draft and did not play the final season for the college team.

NFL

He was drafted by New York Giants in the 2018 NFL draft but was later undrafted and instead joined as a free agent. He could not play his rookie season of 2018-2019 as he was injured and in the following season, he started playing with the team at the Centre position. His performance during 16 games played in the season was striking and accomplished which made him the captain for the 2021 season. During a match against the Washington Football team, in the ongoing 2021 season, he suffered a fracture in his left leg and could not play any further. He immediately underwent surgery for fractured tibia and fibula zones. He is currently recovering but his return in the season is uncertain.
