Marie Avgeropoulos is a Canadian-Greek actress and model well known for her role on The CW’s The 100. She was born on June 17, 1986 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Her parents, Philip Avgeropoulos and Augusta Avgeropoulos, are Greek and she grew up enjoying fishing, hunting and camping in her childhood. She completed her education from Port Arthur Collegiate Institute which has been renamed as Lakehead University Law School. After studying Broadcasting Journalism at Confederation College for two years in her hometown, Marie moved to Europe. After several months, she returned back to Canada and settled in Vancouver.

Marie was invited by one of her friends for a casting call in Vancouver, who were looking for drummers. She was recognised for her talent by a talent agent who then invited her to appear in various national commercials. She has appeared in TV commercials for Credit Unions of British Columbia and Toyota Scion. During her appearances in the national commercials, Marie caught the attention of director Chris Columbus. She was hired by him to appear in I Love You, Beth Cooper.
This was her first feature film role where she portrayed the character Valli Wooley, alongside Hayden Panettiere. Her performance received positive reviews from critics as well as the public. From then on, she went on to appear in various other films, television shows and magazines. Marie was a part of television shows such as Supernatural, Fringe, Eureka and Human Target. In the movie 50/50, she played a role alongside Seth Rogan and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the movie received a Golden Globe nomination.
Rise to stardom
She played the role of Aphrodite Girl in the movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Her break-out role was in the movie Hunt to Kill where she played the role of Kim Rhodes. Marie was nominated for Leo Awards for Best Supporting Performance by a Female in a Motion Picture for her role as Cheryl in the movie Numb. Later, she was cast for a recurring role in The CW’s Cult where she played the character Kristie, in the mystery, psychological-thriller series alongside Matthew Davis and Robert Knepper.
The show failed to attract viewers and was canceled after 7 episodes but, soon after the show ended, Marie was cast as one of the main characters in The CW’s post-apocalyptic series The 100. She played the character Octavia Blake., an illegally born child who grew up hidden in captivity. She is an independent spirit who follows her own path. In the series, she did her own stunts and became fan favorite character as well.

Marie started playing drums at the age of 16. She was in a relationship with American actor Taylor Lautner. They met on the set of the film Tracers in 2013.
