Maksim Chmerkovskiy is a Ukrainian-American Dancer, choreographer, Businessman, and instructor. On the show dancing with the stars, he was often referred to as The bad boy of the ballroom as he was seen for 15 years on the show. He has worked in many Broadway, theatre shows, and TV series.
Early Life
Maksim Chmerkovskiy was born on 17th January 1980 in Odesa, Ukraine. The names of his parents are Aleksandr Chmerkovskiy and Larisa Chmerkovskaya. He has a sibling whose name is Valentin Chmerkovskiy. At the age of 4, he started dancing and his parents enrolled him in a school of aesthetic education. Maksim pursued an aesthetic education. The aim of the school was to train children to become young gentlemen or ladies along with education including manners and ballroom dance. He has not shared details about his higher and further studies.

In 1994 his family immigrated to Brooklyn, New York thus, he had a lot of options for his dancing career. At the age of 15, he started dancing in a local Russian Restaurant. Working as a dancer over there made him realize to participate in various competitions. From 2003 to 2005 he participated in various dance competitions. The names of the competitions were La Classique de Quebec, Ohio Star Ball Latin, All England, Philadelphia Dancesport Festival, Moscow Kremlin Cup, Nevada Star Ball, Manhattan Dancesport, and others. At the age of 16 in New Jersey, he opened a youth-oriented competitive dance studio named Rising Stars Dance Academy.
From season 2- 25 he was seen performing on a reality show named dancing with the stars. His partners were Tia Carrere, Willa Ford, Laila Ali, Melanie Brown, Misty May- Treanor, Denise Richards, Debi Mazar, Erin Andrews, Brandy Norwood, Kirstie Alley, Hope Solo, Melissa Gilbert, Meryl Davis, Amber Rose, Heather Morris, and Vanessa Lachey. He has also performed and choreographed in various theater and Broadway projects. Some of the work was tilted as Le Reve, Ballroom with a twist, Burn the Floor, Sway: A Dance Trilogy, Forever Tango, Maks & Val Live on Tour, and many other works. He was also seen in various TV series like The Cube hosted the show, H8R, The Exes, General Hospital, Fuller House, and other shows.

Recently he slammed Kirstie Alley his former partner on Dancing with the Stars. She posted a comment on the Russian-Ukraine war on her Twitter account which is now deleted. He has been trapped in the country’s capital Kyiv and has shared many updates about the situation on his social media. Kirstie posted
“ I don’t know what’s real or fake in this war. So I won’t be commenting. I’ll pray instead”.

“ Dear Kirstie, We haven’t spoken in a while, but I clearly remember being right next to you while you were organizing trucks in aid during hurricane Sandy and I remember all that you were saying to me about situations where innocent are suffering. In 2009 he was engaged to a DWTS pro named Karina Smirnoff for nine months. Later in 2012, he started dating Peta Murgatroyd a DWTS Pro for 10 months. He reunited in October 2014 and got engaged on 5th December 2015. It was known that he proposed Murgatroyd onstage for a performance of Sway: A Dance Trilogy in Miami, Florida. On 4th January 2017, they were blessed with a son named Shai Aleksander. On 8th July 2017, he tied a knot with her at a private ceremony in Long Island, New York.
