Mackenize was born on 1st April 1987 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her parents are John Davis who works as a Hairdresser and Lotte Davis who works as a graphic designer. They also had a business named AG Haircare where they deal in hair care products. She did her schooling at Collingwood School, West Vancouver, and later went to McGill University in Montreal Quebec. Later she decided to pursue acting as a subject so she went to Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City.

She made her debut by acting in a short film named Alex in 2011. Later in 2012, she was seen in films and TV Show named Smashed, The Hat Goes wild and I just want my pants back. From 2013 to 2018 she was seen working in many popular films like Breath In, The F word, Bad Turn Worse, Plato’s Reality Machine, Moontown, That Awarkward Moment, Emptied, Freaks of Nature, A Country called home, Memory Box, The Martian, Always shine, Izzy Gets the Fuck Across Town, Blade Runner 2049, Boomerang and Tully.
She worked really hard in all these films and along with it, she was also seen in many Television shows such as Halt and Catch Fire, Black Mirror, and No activity. She won the Best Actress award at the Tribeca Film festival for US Narrative Feature and for Monster Fest award for Best Performance in a Feature film in Always shine. Later in 2017, she won Napa Valley Film Festival for Best Breakout Performance and Tacoma Film Festival for Best Performance in Izzy Gets the Fuck across Town. In 2018 she was nominated for International Online Cinema Awards in the category Best Supporting Actress and in Madrid Fashion Film Festival for the category Best Performance. In 2019 she won CinemaCon, U.S.A award for her work in Terminator: Dark Fate.
