Lily Chloe Ninette Thompson or as you all might know her more commonly as Lily James is a 33-year-old English Actress and definitely one of my favorites. She is well known for playing both major roles in movies such as ‘Baby Driver’ and ‘Cinderella’. She is active in three of the major entertainment platforms Film, Television, and Theatre.
Early Life
Born in Esher, a town in Surrey in England to former actress Ninette Mantle and musician James ‘Jamie’ Thomson, Lily first saw light on the 5th of April in the year 1989. Lily is one of three siblings and has two brothers, one being elder and the other being younger than Lily. For this actress we can say showbiz runs in the family as her paternal grandmother, Helen Horton was also an American Actress. Lily attended Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. After that, she went to study acting at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She graduated in the year 2010.
Lily James Career
After her graduation, Lily first signed for Tavistock Wood Management in London. She started her television career in the year 2010 by playing the role of Ethel Brown in the television series ‘Just William’. This series was directed by Richmal Crompton and was broadcasted on BBC in the same year as 2010. She followed this by playing the role of Poppy in the fourth season of ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ in the year 2011 and followed this by playing Lady Rose in ‘ Downtown Abbey. The character of Lady Rose went on to become the main character in the fourth and fifth seasons. Some of her many theatre roles include that of Taylor in the stage adaptation of the novel Vernon God Little.
This was performed in the Young Vic Theatre. She played Nina in Russell Bolam’s modern adaptation of The Seagulls at Southwark Playhouse. Her prominent roles include that of Cinderella in the year 2015, which was a live-action Disney film. The previous year, She was seen on the cover of Vogue in her character’s blue gown and was photographed by Natasha Rostova. Lily played the role of Elizabeth Bennet in the action-horror film and one of my personal favorites‘ Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ which was a parody of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by James Austin.

Her many talents include singing as well. Her singing debut was in the film Cinderella where she sang ‘Sing Sweet Nightingale’, ‘Lavender Blue’s’ and ‘A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes’. In the year 2017 Lily was praised for her role of Debora who was the love interest of the main character Baby in the 2017 Action-Thriller “Baby Driver” were shared the screen alongside Ansel Elgort and Jon Hamm. In the year 2019, Lily played the role of Eve in Ivo van Havoe’s stage adaptation of ‘All About Eve’ alongside Gillian Anderson. The play opened on the 15th of February of the same year.

This talented individual’s stage name originally was Lily Thompson but she later took her father’s stage name when she learned that there was already an actress who went by the same name. Lily’s father James Thompson passed away in the year 2008 trying to win a battle against cancer. Lily was in a long 5-year relationship with Matt Smith who started in the movie “Doctor Who”. They were hardly seen together in public and preferred to keep their private life exactly that way.
