Karly Heath was born on June 22, 2000, in Augusta, Georgia. Her parents are Chris and Beth Heath. Caroline is her only sibling. Among her other high school interests were teacher cadet, buddy club, and Spanish club. She organized a fundraiser for the nearby Ronald McDonald House. Her interests include hunting, fishing, and visiting lakes and beaches. She is majoring in sports management. She aims to be a sports team manager.

During her high school career, she was named all-region five times, all-state three times, region player of the year three times, statewide player of the year three times, and Class 4A player of the year once. As a senior at North Augusta, she batted.517 with 11 home runs and 145 strikeouts while compiling a 14-1 record. Won a PGF national title in 2018 while playing for Georgia Impact-Lewis at the club level.
She attended South Carolina before transferring to Louisiana, where she played for the Gamecocks in 2019 and 2020. As a freshman, she appeared in 44 games (21 starts) as an outfielder and batted.315 with five home runs and 16 RBI. She pitched in 15 games, making 11 starts, compiling a perfect 8-0 record with a 2.48 ERA, limiting opponents to a.179 batting average and allowing only nine extra-base hits in 48 innings.
Louisiana
She made her professional debut with Louisiana in her sophomore year and immediately displayed her ability to produce extra-base hits (and power) by producing 14 of them (6 doubles, 8 home runs). More than half of her season hits (27) came from extra base hits. She participated in 44 games (34 of which were starts), starting 11 of them in right field and 17 of them as a designated player.
At the collegiate level, she kept pitching effectively, accumulating 19-2/3 innings of work over 15 appearances (two starts). She was second on the team with eight home runs and had the third-highest slugging percentage (.588) among the everyday players who finished the season.
Karly was tied for Louisiana’s leading home run hitter in 2022, hitting 13 in less than 100 at-bats. She had double-digit home runs, the most by a player in the Gerry Glasco era, in her debut collegiate season. She led the Sun Belt in home runs (9), slugging percentage (.941), and OPS (1.427) and ended third on the team with a career-high 38 RBI in only 138 plate appearances.
