Jen Psaki is an American political advisor who has also served as for the White House Press Secretary in the Biden administration. Formerly she served as the Spokesperson for the United States Department of State and held press and communications roles in the Obama White House. Quite often she faces backlash from social media because of either controversial tweets or unanswered questions asked by the media regarding the preparations of the white house to battle the nationwide problems. After quitting the White House, she would be joining MSNBC in the fall and would appear on all network’s programs to cover news and updates regarding the primetime elections as well as the 2024 presidential election.
Early life
Jennifer Rene Psaki was born on December 1, 1978, in Stamford, Connecticut, to James R. Psaki and Eileen Dolan Medvey. Talking about her father then he was associated with the real estate business although he retried while her mother works as a psychotherapist. In 1996, she graduated from Greenwich High School in Connecticut and then later attended the College of William & Mary. She graduated in 2000 with a double major in English and sociology. Jen was an athlete back in her college days as she was a backstroke swimmer and also participated for two years as a part of the William & Mary Tribe athletic team.
Jen Psaki Career
Since the start of her career, Jen Psaki has worked for the Democratic Party. First, she started off her career in 2001 with the re-election campaigns of Iowa Democrats Tom Harkin and Tom Vilsack for the U.S Senate and governor respectively. Then in 2004, she became the deputy press secretary for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign. The next year she served as the communications director to the U.S representative Joseph Crowley and for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee as the regional press secretary. Psaki then served as the traveling press secretary throughout the 2008 presidential campaign of U.S senator Barack Obama.
After the elections, Psaki worked as the Deputy Press Secretary and was later promoted to the position of Deputy Communications Director in 2009. In 2011, she left the position and started to work at the office of the public relations firm Global Strategy Group, a New York-based strategic consulting. After that, she consumed charge of press secretary for the 2012 re-election campaign of President Obama. Subsequently, she became the spokesperson for the United States Department of State. Later in 2015 she returned to the White House as a communications director and was at the position till the time Obama was in office.
Biden administration
After staying at the Office, Psaki started working on CNN as a political commentator but left the position in November 2020 as Joe Biden won the 46th Presidential election. She was named as the White House press secretary. On January 20, 2021, at the inauguration of Biden-Harris working, Psaki held her first press briefing. Recently Jen Psaki defended Joe Biden’s commination style after several questions were raised regarding his style to use social media. Jen stated that instead of spending time on social media sharing updates about conspiracy theories, he use that time to do cable interviews with mainstream media and outlets.
She added President’s account on Twitter is only limited and Joe works for the people of the United States. During the briefing on Joe Biden’s arrangement of a $3.5 trillion spending package in front of the media, she said that it is likely that this bill won’t be passed this week for sure. Right now they are trying to negotiate with Senate members and it could take time for the whole path to clear out. She also added that “compromise is necessary, it’s inevitable”
