Early Life

On November 25, 1998, Jaylen Waddle was given birth to by his devoted mother, Iesha Redmon, in the city of Bellaire, Texas, in the United States. Amber Allen and Aspean Redmon are two of his three older sisters while the name of his third sister isn’t disclosed. The Alabama Crimson Tide recruited Waddle despite offers from other programmes, including Oregon, Florida State, and TCU, among others. Waddle chose to join Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

He made his decision on National Signing Day in 2018, and he chose Alabama over the likes of Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, TCU, and Oregon, among others.

Waddle was voted SEC Freshman of the Year in 2018 as a true freshman at Alabama after racking up 45 receptions for 848 yards and seven touchdowns as a true freshman. He also had 16 punt returns for 233 yards and a touchdown in his career as a punt returner. During the 2019 season, Waddle returned to the Crimson Tide for his sophomore campaign. He hauled in 33 receptions for 560 yards and six receiving touchdowns during his career. The SEC named him to the first team as a return specialist, and he was voted Special Teams Player of the Year in the conference.

Waddle suffered a broken right ankle on October 24, 2020, while returning the opening kickoff in a game against Tennessee. He was tackled and suffered the injury. Waddle was able to return for the National Championship game against the Ohio State University. Waddle started on January 14, 2021, that he would forego his senior season and join the NFL Draft in the following year.
