Jake DeArruda is the new contestant on the show Jeopardy. He de-throned the seat of Troy Meyer, who had a six-day winning streak on the stage of Jeopardy. Jake DeArruda was born in 1999 or 2000 in Massachusetts, moved to Vermont, and is back in Massachusetts as of 2017. He was brought up by his loving and caring parents and his younger brother. He says that he loves everything about being in the place- New England. The urban and the suburban city have given him tremendous experiences in life. He calls himself a basketball and golf player (as of college), a writer by age 16, and a trivia guy by 18.
Career
High School
Jake studied at Black River Middle School and he developed an interest in broadcast media. During his high school and middle school, he has a strong inclination towards the school’s media and journalism classes and BRTV productions. And while working for the media classes, he was in front of the camera posing for the dozen episodes of BRTV productions from 2014 to 2015.
While spending his senior years at high school, he was much more attracted by the soccer and basketball seasonal games. He would be excited to record the video and morning announcements and co-write or narrate the things in the 2017 documentary with the whole team. Furthermore, he made the documentary “Vermont legislature’s Act 46 and its impact on our school”, which further received an honorable mention.
College
During college, he was involved or indulged in broadcasting and joined Stonehill’s WSHL radio station. He was involved in working for the solo program called “Beyond the Arc” every week. He was involved with the radio station from 2017 to 2019 until the break of COVID-19. After the break, he transitioned from college courses to various writing forms, with a handful of creative writing courses from 2020 to 2021. His publications and write-ups were ready for Stonehill’s Making a Magazine Learning Community course and the Focus magazine in 2019.
Professional Career
Professionally, he began his career in 2018 and went through his college days. He joined New England Picture Framing as a part-time employee. Then, as of September 2021, he became the Delivery Dispatcher for Yale Appliance. He was responsible for managing the part of customer services, delivering trucks while handling the issues on the road, catching and correcting errors, picking up the process at the warehouse, and looking forward to the next step.
Jeopardy Journey
On 27th January 2023, Troy Meyer had to see a tough loss on the stage of Jeopardy. He was joined by the challengers Jake DeArruda and Dee Williams. While proceeding towards the final Jeopardy, Jake led, with Troy in the second position. Jake bagged around $27,800, while Troy had only $15,600. Ultimately, all three contestants failed to give correct answers, and Jake was still in the lead with a total winning of $22,797. The exciting part of the story is that Troy wagered all of his earnings in the final Jeopardy and could not pass the game and ended up with zero.
