Gugu went to study at the Henry Box School, where she participated in the ‘National Youth Theatre’. She learned dancing at the Judy Tompsett School of Dance, which is known as the Marsh Tompsett School of Dance at present. Later attended the ‘Oxford Youth Music Theatre’ to learn and mold her skills as an actor, singer, and dancer. After winning a scholarship, she went for training and gaining experience in her field of interest at the ‘Royal Academy of Dramatic Art’ in 2001.

In Uganda, she met refugee women who had survived sexual assault and youth settlement community living with albinism. She also took part in the ‘EveryOneCounts’ campaign in 2019.
