Gamal Aziz also known as Gamal Aziz, is a businessman who belongs to the Egyptian-American ethnicity. Previously, he was the president of Wynn Macau Limited and also the chief operating officer of Wynn Resorts Development. Despite these positions, he was also the former CEO of MGM Resorts International.

Gamal Aziz was born in Egypt and spent his childhood in Cairo, Egypt, and later transferred to Las Vegas, Nevada where he spent his whole life. He went to the University of Cairo where he received a bachelor’s degree in business. He is a married man with three children.

Gamal Abdelaziz held the position of an executive at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Besides, he was also an active executive for other hotels including the Plaza Hotel in New York City, the Westin Hotel in Washington, D.C., and St. Francis in San Francisco. He attained high profiled positions wherever he went with the motive of establishing his professional career. Gamal Aziz helped Steve Wynn in opening Bellagio- the most expensive hotel in the U.S. ever built and where Aziz himself was assigned as the senior vice president- the post which he held from 1998 to 2000. He took care of duties to see and maintain the quality of overseeing the food and beverage division.

Next, he came to the limelight when he became the next president and chief operating officer of the grand resort named MGM Grand. It is one of the largest hotels in the US that hold around 5,000 rooms and 10,000 employees. Azaz joined the hotel as president in 2001. Later, he became the president and chief operating officer of MGM Resorts International and then MGM Hospitality in September 2010. While being in the position, he helped the hotels to finalize at least 27 other hotel projects in the leisure markets and attain a rank in the world.

In January 2013, He was given the position of president and chief operating officer at Wynn Resorts Development LLC where his work was associated to look after the expansion opportunities. Next, he became the president of Wynn Macau Ltd where his work was associated to report directly to Wynn. In December 2015, he was given a rank in a hotel and hospitality school named Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL). He was appointed to the international advisory board. In September 2016, he resigned from the position of president and board member of Wynn Macau. Lastly, in March 2019, he became the chairman and CEO of legacy Hospitality Group.

Aziz is a married man for sure, however, he has not revealed the identity of his wife to the public. He is having three children with his wife. He has not been involved in any kind of scandal except the one in which he tried to give a bribe to the admission authority to get his daughter admitted in the college to the University of Southern California.

Controversy

In March 2019, Aziz along with other parents was named in a criminal complaint regarding mail fraud, honest services mail fraud, and the related conspiracy. He along with other parents was involved in the college admission bribery scandal in 2019. Later in October 2021, the parents were found guilty and now in February 2022, they have been sentenced to spend their particular time in jail. Gamal Abdelaziz is being punished with one year and one day in federal prison. He has been sentenced to two years of supervised release, 400 hours of community service, and a fine worth $250,000.

Gamal Abdelaziz is formerly known for his hotel and casino executive positions. He is accused of a fine because he paid $300,000 for his daughter to get admission to the University of Southern California as a basketball player. He prepared false qualifications for his daughter and allegedly tried to get admission based on those false qualifications. Gamal Abdelaziz is not alone in this matter. John Wilson, a private equity executive, is also accused of paying the fine of $220,000. He also faked his son’s qualifications and allegedly tried to get his son admitted to U.S.C. as a water polo player. Later, he was in the news because he tried to pay another amount of $1.5 million to secure admission for his daughters to Harvard and Stanford respectively.
